OMG I'm so glad I've found this site!!!; This Nail infection is making me mental. The stupid thing will not stop popping up. I've done everything required and read post after post about Aurora (Nail.exe) and possible solutions. Nothing I do is working. Please, I emplore you to help; If not for me do it for my poor family who have had to listen to my explitive filled rantings this past week. Thank you so much for your time.

Hello, thank you so much for your time greyknight17. Unfortunatly I've run into another problem, which to me seems to me is totally unrelated. When I clicked on FindIt's.bat a message from my computer popped up with the heading:

16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem

C:\WINNT\system32\cmd.exe
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

I haven't the faintest idea what to do; Now that I think of it. I've gotten a message like this before when trying to run drwatson, which I thought was very strange, but seemed harmless, so I didn't do anything about it.

I was so excited about getting the Nail.exe thing resolved and now this MS-DOS thing comes back to haunt me. Should I post a new topic? or.......I just have no clue what to do.

There you go, you figured out that error. Yes, for some reason, there are some users who receive that error and copying that file over will fix it up.

Download KillBox http://www.atribune....ads/KillBox.exe
Download and install CleanUp http://cleanup.stevengould.org/

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also. Please make sure system restore is enabled by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and make sure that System Restore is enabled (box should be unchecked). Once you're clean we will turn this off and then create a new restore point.

Close out all open windows and disconnect the computer from any internet access.

1. SKIP

2. Go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for 'System Startup Service (SvcProc)' and double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled.

3. Run the CleanUp program you just installed and when prompted to reboot/logoff select NO.

4. Run KillBox. Go to Tools > Delete Temp Files > Click *OK* Paste the following locations into KillBox one at a time. Checkmark the box that says "Delete on Reboot" and checkmark the box "Unregister DLL" (If available) Click the red circle with the white X and it will ask you to confirm the file for deletion, say YES and when the next box opens prompting you to reboot now...click NO...and proceed with the next file. Once you get to the last one click NO when it asks you to reboot.

**Note** Don't let KillBox reboot the computer...Do it manually after the fixes to the hijackthis log.

Do a search for ??plorer.exe and right click on any of the files found. Go to Properties->Version tab and see if it's from Microsoft. Do this for each file found. If it's not from Microsoft (or doesn't even have a version tab) and it was created recently, then delete it.

5. Go to Start->Run and type in cmd and hit OK. Then type in each of the following (hit Enter key after each line):

exit

6. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

7. Reboot the computer now. Reconnect your internet access and post another FindIt’s log and HijackThis log. Again, try not to restart or shutdown once you post these two logs.

Yay!!! Everything is back to normal. I greatly appriciate all of your time, effort, patience and expertise through this mini ordeal of mine. In the past I've been to other sites where the 'help' I recieved wasn't comprehensive at all. However the help I recieved from you and GTG actually solved the problem I posted and one that just popped up along the way.
