I am running Vista Ultimate 64bit on my new computer. Is there a way to reduce the size of this puppy. The hard drive is 100GB but Vista takes up almost 40GB by itself. Also was wondering about the advantages of 64bit instead of 32bit. Is there a big difference? I think 64bit takes more space. Thanks for the help!

I've located an article that might answer your questions. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946765

Not all of that 40Gb is Vista, i'd guess about 10Gb is the actual OS.

Some common maintenance tools that I find handy are as follows...

1) Cleanup! - http://stevengould.o.../CleanUp452.exe

2) CCleaner - http://www.filehippo...nload_ccleaner/

3) Auslogics Disk Defrag - http://download.cnet...4-10567503.html

4) Removing unwanted or used programs

5) Using Disk Cleanup to free some space - Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup

* It might be worth noting the more options tab under the Disk Cleanup utility.

After almost two years in use, all updates, service packs, my Vista Windows folder is almost 22GB in size.
