I've been told by sprint reps that service pack 2 just isn't compatible with their air cards/ wireless devices. Is there anyway around that short of reformating the hard drive?

Does anyone know if windows 7 has the same issue?

Greetings ccphllps, Welcome to GeeksToGo :)

According to Sprint, that particular card is infact supported by Windows Vista.

Lets do some reconfiguring. And see if the Air card will actually function.

*Eject the Air card from your system*

First uninstall the current installation of the PCS Connection Manager software.

Use Revo Uninstaller to be sure all of its software has been removed. Choose the Advanced option and delete any remaining Files/Registry entries. Then reboot the system.

Next follow the instructions located here - Sprint Support
