slow Windows XP (Professional) boot times

The computer I'm currently using is having a lot of issues that have popped up very recently (in the past 3-4 days) and have been really hard to solve. My windows XP boot time has significantly increased. Before, it was possibly a few minutes (I think this is due to the wireless card drivers because when I first installed windows XP, it booted much faster until I added the wireless card). It was fine with me at the time, but now it seems like my computer is extremely sluggish. Boot times have gone up to around 10-15 minutes, or at least it feels really close to that amount of time. I've tried running msconfig to stop the startup of unneeded programs but that didn't help at all. Then sometimes a screen pops up saying that one of my hard drives needs to be checked for consistency. The computer is also operating sluggishly too. When I tried to uninstall programs that I never used anymore, it felt like it took ages to just get to the InstallWizard to delete the programs. I've also tried using a program called CCleaner, but that didn't help much either.

1. Click Start, click Run, type chkdsk /f /r, and then click OK.
2. At the command prompt, type Y to let the disk scanner run when you restart the computer.
3. Restart the computer.
4. Chkdsk will run.
