Hi,
I have an annoying problem with lagging sound and video on my laptop when I am listening to streaming media.
Taking Spotify as an example, with periods of one or a few minuts the music slows down and laggs heavily for a few seconds and then goes back to normal, the music doesnt run completely smooth between these periods either though. At the same time this lagging occurs I see that the CPU activity goes over 50%, sometimes to 100% (in Windows task-manager). Usually it also does this at the start of a new song, and when the cpu is at 100% the mouse-pointer also laggs at the same time. It seems like it is Spotify that take up the most of the CPU when this happens, according to task-manager. I have the same problem with most other streaming media as well. When I watch streaming TV, the video lacks constantly but not so violently as with spotify.

I would really appreciate som help with this. Thanks!
Per

Edit:
Forgot to mention my computer specs:
Compaq 6720s Laptop
Windows Vista Home Basic
Intel Celeron 530 1,7Ghz
2GB Ram
ESET Nod 32 Antivirus

2: Click once on Summary
3: In upper menu, go Report
4: And then to Quick Report-Summary
5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.

Wow, I never realized that there was so many things starting up on autostart. The list is quite long. I hope its possible for you to interpret something in the text file, since there is a lot of swedish in it.

Thanks

Open Autoruns, click on "Logon" tab, and UN-check:

+ iTunesHelper
+ QuickTime Task
+ SunJavaUpdateSched
+ WinampAgent
+ swg

When done restart computer and then:

Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC)
Double click on TFC.exe to run the program.
Click on Start button to begin cleaning process.
TFC will close all running programs, and it may ask you to restart computer.

Download Auslogics Defrag from the link in my signature below. Auslogics Defrag in my opinion is better because:

It does a more comprehensive job at Defragging
It will actually show you what it is doing
At the end of working it will show you how much speed you picked up
You can view a online log of the files that Auslogics defragged

Thanks a lot rshaffer61! I followed your instructions and defragged my C: with Auslogics, and now it runs like clockwork.

Best regards
