CD Burn Problem

My computer and CD hard drive are about 4 years old. I have burned many CD's in the past but I am no longer able to burn a CD. When I attempt to burn a CD from WMP nothing seems to be happening and then I will get a "blue screen" serious error message. The CD hard drive will play and rip CD's - just not burn CD's. I recently moved all my music files to a external hard drive.

Any thoughts?
