Hey I have a lot of information on this game. I haven't played this game for 4-2 years now and I only have the original PC Battlefield CD and battlefield 2142. I just have some question about the game and community.

How large is the community base right now for player vs player? I live in the southern east side of US or east coast of the US.

Can I so play the expansion map if I don't have the expansion game-arm fury, special force, and europe or nothern strike and delux- with people that have it? or I can only play with other player that have the same game?

Can any -up to date- free anti virus and malware scan(Avast home edtion and anti malwarbyties) detects virus after updating the game? I had gotten virus from the past while updated the patches.

Do I need turn off my anti virus and fire wall down or do you guys just install the game? Do I do the same while downloading the patch?

Thanks

install battlefield 2, plus all patches. patch 1.4 included a new map. You can not play expansion maps without the expansions. This also goes for 2142.

community: bf2 still has plenty of active people in the community. However, 2142 I can't stand personally. People still play it and there are some nice mods (star wars) for it. I felt 2142 was just to buggy to play and lacked proper admin tools for support and administration of servers. Quite the opposite for bf2.

Can any -up to date- free anti virus and malware scan(Avast home edtion and anti malwarbyties) detects virus after updating the game? I had gotten virus from the past while updated the patches.

I believe they (ea/dice) include auto patching, especially if you purchased them online through ea's network. I would only download patches from reputable sites (fileshack, filefront, fileplanet). Keep in mind that just because you updated a game, may have nothing to do with how or why you get infected with a virus.

If you have virus issues, please seek help in our malware removal forum. We have excellent staff ready and willing to assist.

I've never had to disable my anti virus or firewall to play the game (or patch). You may need to "allow" the game application in your firewall so you can play online.

BF2 still rocks until now!
you can get the mod(s)AF,EF,SF (with high speed) in:
http://www.ea.com/ga...lete-collection
or download it for a week or two (with patience)in:

Please be advised that Geeks to Go! does not support piracy. The moderating team has been made aware of the link within Bryan_Jovi's reply and will be removed shortly.

Torrents and other forms to Peer to Peer (P2P) file sharing is sometimes used for positive activities such as finding that one driver nobody has published on their website or sharing the latest build of your own application --- sadly that service is highly abused and can contain viruses and other forms of Malware. The use of P2P programs and services is highly discouraged.

Having said that, BF2 is still widely played --- very full games out there. I do not play 2142 myself so I cannot vouch for the activity but even so, it has not been out for a long time --- there are still those who are purchasing the game. I would not say that it is gathering dust on the shelf.
