packed generic 200 virus removal

I have the Packed.Generic.200 virus.Ive had it for a while, NortonAntiVirus only finds it but wont remove it.Ive read that its pretty hard to remove? Had tried a few things off a few sites but i only have basic computer knowledge. I have Windows XP, on some lame laptop, and thats really all i know
