Hi,

I upgraded my RAM (DDR 184 pin) from 2x256 cards to 4 x 516 cards. I chose this option from obtaining info on the crucial website on what my pc is capable of upgrading too (its a FujitsuSiemens Scaelo P model). The memory scanner on the crucial website said my board can handle 4x1gb cards, but I opted for the manufacturers recommendations.

Since I have put the new cards in my computer is running slower and Im having difficulties loading pages on my browsers, both Firefox and explorer.

Does anyone know what could be the cause?

Is the new memory a faster memory as in pc2700 or pc3200
What mhz is the memory

Download Autoruns from the link in my signature below:

1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.
2: Double-click the "Autoruns.exe".
3: Click on the "Everything" tab
4: Remove any entries that mention "File Not Found" by right-clicking the entry and select Delete.
5: Go to File then to Export As.
6: Save AutoRuns.txt file to know location.
7: Attach to your next reply.

Download and install EVEREST
Open it.
1: In left pane expand Computer folder.
2: Click once on Summary
3: In upper menu, go Report
4: And then to Quick Report-Summary
5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.

DO NOT INCLUDE ANYTHING UNDER THE LINE THAT SAYS "DEBUG- PCI"

First thing i want to say is:

Although using P2P programs like Utorrent are not illegal, the files downloaded could contain potential infections. By continuing to use these programs will put you at a higher risk for infection. If you continue to use these programs GTG may not be able to provide assistance in the future.

Open Autoruns, click on "Logon" tab, and UN-check:

+ Adobe Acrobat Speed Launcher
+ NeroFilterCheck
+ QuickTime Task
+ RealTray
+ SunJavaUpdateSched
+ MsnMsgr......Does not need auto autostart. You can start this when needed
+ PeerGuardian
+ uTorrent....This is a potential problem for infections

Last one is a seperate issue but if not needed does not need to be loading. CTFMON.exe is not needed if you do not use multi-language on your keyboard. To get rid of it follow these steps and then proceed with the rest of the instructions below that.

To turn off just ctfmon.exe go to:

Control Panel then to Regional and Language Options

Click on the Languages Tab then click the Details button

Click on the Advanced tab

Check the box that says Turn off advanced text services option

Click A and then OK

When done restart computer and then:

Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC)
Double click on TFC.exe to run the program.
Click on Start button to begin cleaning process.
TFC will close all running programs, and it may ask you to restart computer.

Download Auslogics Defrag from the link in my signature below. Auslogics Defrag in my opinion is better because:

It does a more comprehensive job at Defragging
It will actually show you what it is doing
At the end of working it will show you how much speed you picked up
You can view a online log of the files that Auslogics defragged

I have followed the above, including removing the uTorrent. When i restarted the pc it crashed, then the second time loaded up ok. I cant see some graphics on some websites and in hotmail for example i cant select a message, its a bit like when a macro is disabled on a button, you press but no joy :-(

Was there anything downloaded and\or installed just prior to the issue starting?
Please follow the next instructions.

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post the reguested logs in THAT forum. If you are unable to run any of the tools then start a new topic in the malware forum and put this in the subject line...I am unable to run any malware tools

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Ok, I will try the Malware procedures.

I installed the Microsoft Office compatibility pack for my Office 2003, in order to view the 2007 version files. That's where things started to noticeably go wrong...
