Hey,
I am new here and am really glad I was able to stumble onto what seems like a great community helping with ever so pesky malware. Recently, my computer has been extremley slow and choppy, and the CPU usage would jump sporadically. I have been desperate in trying to fix the issue with Ad-aware, spybot and other reccommended software on this site, but with no prevail =(. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. First, download, install, and run CleanUp! (so the scan won't take as long because cleanup will clear temporary files) *NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders. If you have anything in a temp folder, backup it up or move it to a permanent folder prior to running Cleanup!

Please download ewido security suite

• Install ewido security suite
• Launch ewido, there should be a big E icon on your desktop, double-click it.
• The program will prompt you to update click the OK button
• The program will now go to the main screen

You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.

• On the left hand side of the main screen click update
• Click on Start

The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.

Once the updates are installed do the following:

• Reboot into Safe Mode, you can do this by restarting your computer, then contiunally tapping F8 until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter. Then, run Ewido.
• Click on scanner
• Make sure the following boxes are checked before scanning:
  • Binder
  • Crypter
  • Archives
• Click on Start Scan
• Let the program scan the machine

While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report

• Click Save report
• Save the report to your desktop

Reboot into normal mode.

Then, please run this online virus scan:
ActiveScan

Save the results from ActiveScan.

I need you to post the log from Ewido, the log from ActiveScan and a new HiJackThis log.

This step is IMPORTANT:

First, I need you to disable the Microsoft Antispyware program as it could interfere with cleaning your system. To disable the program, follow the instructions below:
1.) Right click on the Microsoft Antispyware tray icon (a little red and yellow circle looking thing)
2.) Click on Security Agents Status (Enabled)
3.) Click on Disable Real-time Protection.

Then:

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs and remove:

AWS or Weathbug

Exit Add/Remove Programs.

Open Notepad, and copy/paste the box below into a new notepad file. Change the "save as type" to "All Files". Save it as Unreg.bat on your Desktop.

Locate Unreg.bat on your Desktop and double-click on it.

I need you to copy all of the Killbox instructions below and paste them into Notepad and save it.

* Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

* Save it to your desktop.

* Run Killbox.exe.

* Select "Delete on Reboot".

* Open the Notepad file where you saved these instructions earlier, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them then press CTRL + C

Thanks alot again for your help. I did everything you asked and came up with another HiJackThis log. A few notes, I was unable to select the bottom 2 out of 5 files for deletion in KillBox, it said the files did not exist. Also when I enabled shown files, None if the files showed up. Is that suprising? I just copied and pasted each file in the search engine and did a search but nothing showed up. Thanks a bunch again.

Please use Windows Explorer to delete these folders, they won't show up by search. You can get to Windows Explorer, but going to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer. I know for a fact the first 2 folders WILL be there (so be sure to "show hidden files" - link in my previous post) the other 2 may or may not be there.

Thanks again for all this great help so far. So far my computer is working much more efficently and faster then before. However theres still one issue that remains and im not sure if its realated with any malware or the sorts. Whenever I run a video intesnive program like a video clip or video game, it runs fine/smoothly for the first couple of minutes and then starts to get really choppy and lags behind. Any input or advice on this would be great.

Your system is clean and you really don't have any optional items on startup either! We can remove AIM from startup and see if that helps anything. I think it has more to do with your graphics card and/or memory. It's definitely not malware causing that.
