Can anyone help me with the next steps? I would appreciate it very much. I saw other similar topics but assume every computer has different issues to deal with.

Hi,

I notice from your log that there's more than 1 Antivirus installed. McAfee, AVG and Authentium AntiVirus
Never install more than one Antivirus and Firewall! Rather than giving you extra protection, it will decrease the reliability of it seriously!
The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, your system may lock up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time.
Also because more than one Antivirus and Firewall installed are not compatible with eachother, it can cause system performance problems and a serious system slowdown.

So you have to make a decision here and keep the Antivirus you prefer and uninstall the other ones.
Then reboot after uninstalling.

Then,

First of all, please update MalwareBytes, because the databaseversion looks outdated since I see some entries in your log should be gone normally.

  • Start MalwareBytes and click the Update tab. There click "Check for updates"
  • In case you can't update the database via the update option, please download and install the database from here. Only do this when the update option doesn't work.
  • Once the updates are downloaded, perform a quick scan again.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log, then we'll proceed from there with new steps.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Thanks for the MBAM link! I don't have internet access on the infected computer.

I can't seem to get rid of Authentium AntiVirus. Otherwise, the logs are below:

Thanks for the MBAM link! I don't have internet access on the infected computer.

That explains why malwarebytes is outdated, because it would solve your problems if you update it.

Since Malwarebytes itself has been updated as well, I suggest you transfer the installer for the latest version and install it. This will also install one of the latest database versions so it can fix your problems.
So please download the installer from here: http://www.malwareby...am-download.php and transfer it to the infected computer.
Then scan and reboot.
After reboot, post the new log in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log :)

This is much better.... almost one. :)

Just some unneeded entries / leftovers, so...

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapp.../search/ie.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {CCC7A320-B3CA-4199-B1A6-9F516DD69829} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [Advanced Virus Remover] C:\Program Files\AdvancedVirusRemover\PAVRM.exe (User 'SYSTEM')
O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [Advanced Virus Remover] C:\Program Files\AdvancedVirusRemover\PAVRM.exe (User 'Default user')

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Let me know in your next reply how things are now.

Everything seems to be just fine. :)

Other than what you mentioned in the first response, is there anything else I
should do?

Yes, make sure this won't happen again, so Please read my Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future.
And if you want to improve speed/system performance after malware removal, take a look here.
Extra note: Make sure your programs are up to date - because older versions may contain Security Leaks. To find out what programs need to be updated, please run the Secunia Software Inspector Scan.

Happy Surfing again!
