I am not necessarily sure whether this topic is in the right place, but here it is.

I recently got a virus on my computer. I believe i have deleted it because i haven't seen any new problems since i have run my antivirus and deleted anything it has found. Anyway, after i have done all this, i realized that all of my system restore points have been deleted. I also can no longer create any restore points. When i attempt to create a restore point, i recieve this message, "System Restore is not able to create a restore point. Please restart the computer, and then run System Restore again." I then restart the computer, but i constantly recieve the same message. What should i do about this problem?

Other information: I am using Windows XP Home Edition

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post the reguested logs in THAT forum. If you are unable to run any of the tools then start a new topic in the malware forum and put this in the subject line...I am unable to run any malware tools

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Don't know if this will help but it has saved me a couple of times.
SuperAntiSpyware - free has a repair programme which includes a repair for Restore. Since it is free, your can download it, make the repair, see what happens - then if you don't want to keep it just remove it. Google will tell you where to get it.

Once you finish with your Google rootkit issue HERE then if System Restore is not working after Rorschach112 is done then we can continue with other directions.
