Monitor takes forever to come on

When I boot up my computer, it will go through the normal boot sequences but the monitor will not come on for one to two minutes, after the machine has completely booted. After that it is fine, unless the monitor goes into rest mode, when it takes another couple of minutes to reactivate. The problem seems to have started when I installed a wireless router (LInksys wireless-G) to the system. I am missing settings somewhere to control how long it takes for the monitor to come on?
