Storage drive will not book

I have Lacie storage drive with fire wire plugged into my Apple MacBook Pro (intel)
The storage drive Icon will not show up on the desktop. I have tried a different cable and have plugged
the storage drive into a different computer and it still will not mount.

The storage shows up in the Apple profiler as an unknown device.

How can I fix this problem?
