Earlier this year put eggs into Google basket. Switching to Gmail through MS Outlook(2002 Pro). Could not get messages to send, received OK. Google site suggested latest MS update, downloaded, installed & problem gone.
Recently installed new HD; XP Pro operating system and Office reinstalled from CD discs. Downloaded update again, tried to install and received Error 1328 - "cannot update Config.Misc/PT31.tmp - it has probably been updated by other means & can no longer be modified" (gives same comment for PT35 & PT2F). Error report for sending to MS contains an OHotfix log. & OHotfix MSI.log.
Since then I have reinstalled office 2x, and on, second occasion run reg cleaner first. Update attempts remain unsuccessful as above, and outlook still refuses to send.
Been through MS lengthy page on update problems without success?
Cannot understand contamination of previous update since it was a new installation on the new disc and not some attempt to transfer office from original HD. Any experience out there?
