Hello!
Recently, my computer has been infected with a virus. Some of the symptoms include: google redirecting, no change/remove button in add/remove programs, cannot open common files with endings .doc .pdf etc (i managed to fix the .exe and .lnk ones by going into the folder options), my computer often freezes (Windows XP) and others that I'm not too bothered about.

So I decided to do a system restore. I followed the instructions, went through with the wizard but I keep getting stuck on the confirmation page "Confirm Restore Point Selection" after the page "Select a Restore Point". I selected "next" but it's stuck there while not exactly frozen because I can still press "back" and go back. But the "next" takes me no where.

My questions are:

Is this supposed to happen? If yes, how long should I wait while wizard is on "Confirm Restore Point Selection" page?

Is there another way of removing this virus?

Thanks in advance!
Betty

P.S. I have tried and used various software: Malwarebytes, combofix, sdfix, trojan remover and some others that I can't recall right now. They claimed to have fixed the problems but those symptoms are still there.

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post the reguested logs in THAT forum. If you are unable to run any of the tools then start a new topic in the malware forum and put this in the subject line...I am unable to run any malware tools

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
