cannot signin in windows live messenger 8.5

i have installed windows live messenger 8.5. i can log in to my hotmail account but when i try to sign in to msn, it wont login. i requested my frined to try his ID, his worked but mine didnt. what can i do to make it work?

Hi,
Are you running any themes? Like windowsblinds or alienware's theme pack?
This can stop you from signing in properly, this is how you fix it.

1.Locate C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Contacts.
2.Right click WLCOMM.EXE and then select Properties.
3.Click the "compatibility" tab and under "Display settings" click the check box that says "Disable visual themes". (you want a tick in this box after you have clicked it.)
4.Click "OK" and then sign in to WLM

i am not using any kind of themes and i think u have misunderstood me in MSN. i mean to say windows live messenger 8.5 where i cannot login to chat.

Mmm Well if your friends account works fine on your version of messenger and yours doesnt, that means their is nothing wrong with the program, and maybe something wrong with the windows live itself. Did you have a previous version of messenger?
