Exchange Email won't download at home. Will from Hotels

I'm trying to help my Dad with his Email. He downloads E-mail from an Exchange Server using Outlook. If he is in a hotel it downloads quickly. If he tries to download from home, it fails, and says that it can't find the server. It has always done this. His IT guy is unavailable for a week.

I can ping the server name. What would be different here and at a hotel?
