Hey guys,
I finally got my second computer to stop rebooting all the time thanks to your help. Now the only time I encounter this problem is when I use Disk Cleanup- and the only when I select "Compress Old Files" Can anyone shed some light on this?

almost sounds like heat.....you're computer is working very hard at that point....

that said, let's do a disk check

start > run, type
cmd
<enter>

at prompt type,
chkdsk /r
enter

say yes when windows offers to scan at next reboot.

On reboot (will take a while),

start > run, type
eventvwr.msc
enter

Look under system for winlogon

does it report any errors found?

I ran the chkdsk /r
Now the system reboots before reaching even the log in screen- including when I attempt last know good configuration and safe mode. When I attempt to boot from the XP CD to repair the system, I get the blue screen of death.

it would be helpful if you would relate what the BSOD says....there are several hundred and it is too difficult if we have to ask : is it this one? ok, this one? this one.......................................
