Hi - I have just rebuilt my system and upgraded to 64bit Vista at the same time. The Hardware is all pretty much the same as before, have downloaded the appropriate drivers - none showing any problem.

However though not vital I do find things not working in Vista very annoying: a little niggle here, a little niggle there.

My WEI rating is not working - refreshed about a dozen times, no matter what I do the rating will not update and remains plugged at 1.0.

Googled it and the only forum post anywhere that mentions the specific question/problem was oine in which the poster quite nicely wrote - Solved and gave no insight at all as to how they resolved the issue.

Has anyone here had this problem (I also had it on one intallation I had of 32 bit about 6 months ago)? How does one resolve it?

Thanks in advance

Joe

Hi,

There is allot that can go wrong with WEI in many different areas. However the following is a run down of some ideas and if you need me to explain an area to you just ask:
  • Update drivers. If you have not updated your driver for devices recently your WEI may hang and not correctly work. The most important is your graphics card. Make sure that is up to date as the first test in the string is to check your graphics card to ascertain the base score. Also update any other hardware you have installed.
  • Update direct X. Make sure direct x is fully up to date with the latest version installed. Go Here and download the Direct x installed. Run and update as appropriate
  • If neither of those works then try refreshing WEI. Read This Post

Just so we can compare can you follow the instructions below:

Please can you download and install Everest from HERE
Once its installed (leave all of the options just keep pressing next) double click on the shortcut.
Then once its running:
1: In left pane expand Computer folder.
2: Click once on Summary
3: In upper menu, go Report
4: And then to Quick Report-Summary
5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post

Don't include anything under the line "DEBUG- PCI"

Refer to the image below for more help.

Thanks... Downloaded an optional Driver for my nVidia GT 8600 about an hour ago - just tried thhe wei and it works, you were spot on! =) Am downing the official latest Driver now and DirectX 10. Doubtless that would get installed with COD 5 when I reinstall it anyway (Not sue what version of DX it uses but think its 10)

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated Mate!

Ah good nice to see its sorted :)

COD 5 is still in DX9 by the way. Its to make the design as they say "equal" between the different platforms. This is the FAQ on DX issues. Seems a shame that PC users have to be put down because consoles cant update :) but its no biggy.
