Computer restarting

I am asking this for a friend.. Whenever she tries to start her computer it restarts as soon as the welcome screen comes. Ditto for safe mode. What can be the problem?

If you have more than one RAM module installed, try starting computer with one RAM stick at a time.
NOTE Keep in mind, the manual check listed above is always superior to the software check, listed below.
If you have only one RAM stick installed...

Thanks Broni.. But I think we will have to wait for a while.. She doesn't know how to take out the RAM so we will have to wait until she finds someone who knows how to do it.
