Hi,
I was having problems with my laptop being unresponsive

I have being receiving help from Dave123
Thread here: http://www.geekstogo...33#entry1586833

My laptop blew a blast of either smoke or dust, slight smell of burning, so Im assuming smoke!
I tried to power up again, it let me load up as usual, but base of machine got very warm quickly by fan.
The power cable no longer works either. Battery is now dead so won't power up.
Can anyone tell me if it sounds repairable?
I appreciate any help I receive
Nikki

Any smell of burning isn't good. It's entirely possible something's shorted out somewhere inside the laptop.
Your best bet will be to take it somewhere so it can be taken to pieces and see if there is any damage. A mainboard problem means it usually will be a write-off there and then.

Hi Neil,
thanks for quick reply.
I had a look inside and there is no marks.
Other than trying to find somewhere to repair it, is there a way I can check what's wrong?
Sorry if it's a stupid question! I'm still learning.
Thanks
Nikki
