I have no idea why, but at random times my Dell flat panel monitor will just suddenly go to a white screen. I hit the <esc> key a zillion times, turn the monitor off and on... nothing consistently brings it back. Sometimes it comes back on its own in time, and other times I have to shut down and restart in order to get the screen to come back up and be visible.

Is it the monitor itself?
Is it the video card?
Could a trojan or virus or some other nasty thing do this?
Is it fixible or does it mean a whole new machine?

Thanks in advance for any help.
