I just purchased a Firewire cable at a good price, but I am now doubting that it is the one I need. I did some research, and I found out my laptop I am trying to connect to my home computer has an Is400 port while my home computer has a 1394 port right in front.

I am able to get the connection on my home computer, but the laptop just won't register it, the cabel has a 1394 on both ends, a 6-prong and 4-prong. According to what I read (which is limited) the Ilink only needs a 4-prong, so why is this not working??
:)
Does the cable have to be a Sony? Am I looking in the wrong place to find the device? Or do I need to buy a new cable to convert the 1394-1394 to a s400-1394?

Please for help and thanks for the forum ^^
