Ive seen in this past forum http://www.geekstogo...cy-t242163.html the same issue with a proper solution, my worry in this case is that I hit the power button to restart my pc, since CHKDSK is stuck, wont it damage the HD? and if I restart the PC and go back to the same screen what can I do to recover my data? BTW the laptop is getting very hot. Thanks in advance.

If CHKDSK is stuck on a file for hours and hours, days, weeks and years, it's usually a sign (as was proved in the previous post) that the hard drive is on the way out.
The data isn't a problem if you have access to another computer - one of your own or a friend.
