Every time I start-up Vista Home Premium on my Toshiba laptop an item appears in the tray,'Security Checking'. Nothing appears on the screen until I click the item and then only a small dialog box asking for a password. I have made no arrangements in this direction but this started about a week ago and is persistent. It is annoying to have to keep cancelling it. Anyone experienced this? More importantly, anyone know how to get rid of it, or, indeed, what it means?

Kind Regards, Cigos

I suggest that you start a new topic in the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal area.

Before you start a new topic click on this link --> Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, Please read before starting a new topic. This will give you a few preparations to make, as well as instruction for posting your OTListIt2 log.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Thanks Broni, On my first thread on the Vista site I had used Malwarebites and found three Trojans. On advice I ran it again and was clear. Further, on advice I also ran PrevX and again recieved a clean bill of health.

It is still appearing in the tray and I would appreciate any further advice.

Regards, Cigos
