i am having the cleveriehooker.jeired and dso exploit problem ... i ran spybot multiple times, even after disabling windows system restore, and also running it prior to windows startup ... also tried adware multiple times but neither could fix the problem, found here that you guys solved this same problem for other people ... hoping you might be able to do the same for me ... thanks much.....

Welcome to GTG mf28 <_<

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please move Hijack This to a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold:

C:\Program Files\TV Media\ <- Folder
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe

Next, please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

I don't see any signs of cleveriehooker.jeired in your log. We're you able to successfully delete the Wintools folder?

Download the latest version of Ad-Aware from here (if you already have Ad-Aware installed, make sure that it is the latest version and always go online and update it before you run it).

After installing AAW, and before running the program, you must FIRST update the reference file following these instuctions. (and you must always do this before you run the program at any later date).

Now do the following:

Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:
Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

Press "Scan Now"

- Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
- Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
- Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
- Select the active partition which is usually C:

Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives. It will find a number of spyware files and registry keys. Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"

Now press "Next" again. It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.

Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot.

Run Hijack This again and post back a fresh log.

i've re-run ad-aware, and also spybot ... cleveriehooker.jeired seems to be completely removed ... and ad-aware finds no problems in my system at all .. but spybot still comes up with 5 entries of DSO exploit .... i haven't had any noticeable problems with my PC since following the first instructions i was given .. but am not sure if this is serious or not ... regardless, here is the newest hijack this log from my comp. i really appreciate your guys help, its so rare today that people will give any kind of knowledge away for free, and its really cool that you guys are willing to do that. thanks again ....

The DSO exploit is a known bug in the current version of Spybot S&D. Just keep updating the software, it should be fixed soon.

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN <_<

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use).

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.
Link to SpywareBlaster: http://www.geekstogo...tion=show&id=12

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend Firefox.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. :D
