[bleep] it! I tried Windows Update, and got (you guessed it) another BSOD!

Lots of BSODs, Normal Mode does not work for more than a minute

Sorry for the really long delay, I'm sure you didn't mind though 
I restored files from my backup drive after making another partition and installing Windows XP on it. It seems to have worked, no BSODs since a week ago! I'll let you know if there are any other problems
