C-ROM will not let me formate a new disk. I get an error message "E:/ is not accesable. Incorrect function if I try to open a new disk or try to copy a photo from my hard drive onto a new disk.

Yet it will work fine to creat a CD with photos using Elements or play an Audio CD.

Help.....

Thanks

I'm not sure I understand this line correctly...

C-ROM will not let me formate a new disk

Why would you format a cdrom disk?
It is blank media and does not need formatting.

Always had to format blank CD before I could copy photo on to them from my hard drive. Now I cannot do that.

I also get the same error message when I simply try and open a new blak CD or copy photos on to a new one without formating.

Strange as I have never had to format one cd or dvd disc before using it.

How old is the drive itself?

about 6 years old ... I think I should replace it anyway with a DVD / CD writer. Correct?

Yes that is what I suggest also. :)
With he cost of a new one being as low as $25.00 it is worth a new one.
If you need I can give you a couple of sites to check out.
If you let me know what your budget is I can look specifically in that price range for you.

Let me know what specifics you are looking for

If you could recommend one it would be perfect. I would be very appreciative.

I have a "light-weight" computer. It is a Dell Demnsion 3000. I really just want the best for this machine so no budget in mind. If it is $25.00 or $50.00 is does not really matter.

Thanks in advance....

I did not have the "record function" activated. Once I did it worked fine. Boy to I feel dumb. I decided to still put the new DVD / CDE writer in.

Thanks again for you help.
