Hi,
Welcome to GeeksToGo.
When you say you have messed with the firewall and tried turning it off did you also look at the inbuilt Windows Firewall. This is found in the security Centre by going:
Start > Control Panel > Security Centre
Then click on Windows Firewall in the top left of the screen. Then once in the Windows Firewall screen again in the top left of the screen select Allow Program Through
Then allow the programs which have not been able to connect.
The process is outlined Here along with other processes to carry out, if that doesn't work.

I had already tried that and I have windows. Also i was wondering if i have to open ports through the firewall for the programs.

Ok then,
It still sounds like a rights issue that's causing the problem but not with Windows...
What other Firewalls and Anti Virus have you got installed on your machine?.
Also what version of Windows are you using? If you are using Vista then try right clicking for example the iTunes icon and then running that as an administrator. Hopefully the extra admin rights will be enough to let it have access.
Finally make sure you have the latest install of the program you are using for example make sure you are running iTunes version 8.2.1
