Hello stretch 123...

Do you have Service Pack 2 or 3 installed yet?

Hi.
In answer to your question --NO
Windows cannot be updated
I cannot download any updates at all as there is NO security Center icon.
When I enter control panel the security portion is no there.
I have tried to locate it,but get told that that program is not installed.

If your WinXP disc was pre SP1 download and install Windows XP Service Pack 1a Express Install (32-Bit) for End Users than install Windows XP Service Pack 3

Hi.
My Xp is 2002 with SP1.

Short of doing "another" reinstall I cannot see any other way

The Security Center is installed with Service Pack 2 so reinstalling won't help. You need to follow Whiskeyman's advice and install SP1a...then install SP3, which includes SP2...then you will have the Security Center back.

When you reinstalled Windows, did you format and do a clean install? Or did you do an in-place upgrade (repair installation)?

Why did you have to do the reinstall in the first place? Were you having problems with it?

Hi.
Ok--
We had a problem where as Windows kept going in a loop,& could not get it to fully load.
When we eventually got that to stop there were some items missing,I cannot remember exactly what these were, but,do remember that there were some dll's.
I then formated the hard drive, loaded windows xp pro (sp1 2002)everything except the security centre loaded.

Have tried all suggestions & still cannot update .

Right click on My Computer and choose "Properties". With the General tab selected (default), please tell me everything it says under the "System" section.

Download and install Service Pack 3.

Once you have that installed, you will have the Security Center back.

Hi all "AGAIN"
I have downloaded sp2 & tried to install.
I am now getting a message saying that the serial key is not correct--contact Microsoft.

I have doubled checked the serial for windows,& it is the same.

I purchased Windows XP & have a receipt for it.
Why would this be.
