Hi

I am unable to access FTP sites through IE8 or Firefox. These very same sites were able to be accessed when I used IE6. Is there anything I need to do to access these FTP sites through IE8 and Firefox?

Thanks in advance.

Did you try Safe Mode with Networking?
What do you use for firewall?

I honestly can't answer these questions because I don't know what "safe mode with networking" is and the firewall is, I think, Windows Firewall at least according to the Control Panel. I think our company tech folk have put up something else but I am not aware of it.

Apologies for being so dumb. :)

If I can access the FTP site through Firefox, I'd be happy. I am always wary of IE.

No it is my own computer but I do company work from home--a lot of company software has been installed remotely. I access something called Team Viewer if I want remote assistance.

To access Safe Mode with Networking, restart computer, and keep tapping F8 key until this menu appears:

Also....
Download Security Check from HERE, and save it to your Desktop.

* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

No, not yet. I was waiting for confirmation from you before I did it.

The FTP site is ftp://quality.cbayscribe.com

Now I will try the Safe Mode with Networking.

OK. I see now. To connect to this ftp site, you need to use some ftp agent, like FireFTP, or FileZilla, and....you need to supply username, and password.

I have the username and password. I can connect using Opera, but for my own paranoid safety reasons, I feel safer with Firefox. I tried FireFTP but found it too confusing. Can I download FileZilla and try?

BTW, Safe Mode with Networking didn't work--I couldn't even get this web site to load--all I could get was Google.

Edited to add...

I need to access the company's FTP site in order to be abreast of changes in documentation methods, templates, client details, etc. Do I download FileZilla Client or FileZilla Server?

Now that I have FileZilla Client (I realize I asked you a dumb question in my earlier post) how do I go about accessing the FTP site? I need to give a port address that I don't know. :)
