Yikes....I've lost part of the Menu Bar in Word

I know this seems like such a rudimentary (if not ridiculous) question but in my Word version 2000, somehow I have lost the top line of the Menu Bar that has the visual words:

File Edit View Tools Help

And I have tried checking and unchecking the toolbars, etc.....cannot find a way to bring that aspect of the Menu Bar back.

Does anyone have any insight they might be willing to share with me. I would be most appreciative. Thank you.
