Im a total non techie so if i use any wrong terms i apologise in advance, if you can help please try and keep it simple, thanks.

Yesterday my IE packed up, when i click on the icon i get a black window which flashes up very fast and reads

c:\PROGRA-INTERN-1\iexplore.exe
program to big to fit in memory

I switched to firefox and today during an update the computer froze, i restarted and now have

XUL RUNNER
Error platform version 1.9.0.11 is not compatible with
min version>=1.9.0.13
max version<=1.9.0.13

Yesterday i was thinking of taking the computer to be looked at on monday, as long as the FF was working ok, but now im really stuck, have a 2nd very slow and old cpu and and am writing from that, also been googleing for a few hours now with no luck, i cannot access internet options in the control panel either.

Any help in getting one of the two going again would be really appreciated.
