no sound & HUGE realtek problem :|

the problem is , i have no sound & ive checked the wires and all the connections.
my speakers are perfectly fine, they play on other pc's & ipods fine. When i searched online for solutions to this, ive went through the audio drivers on my computer and found that the realtek one was missing. so when i went onto the website to download it again it worked. Now here comes the weird part ... after it installed, i had to enable it as my main audio driver, then when i clicked "next" or "enable - OK" my pc gives me a black screen & totally restarts

!
i cant find the answer as to why this happens. I know my pc is old but everything is up to date.
the version of realtek audio codec i downloaded is the HD one.

help please , i really really want my sound back .. its been over 3months now

Please Go to
1: STARTand the click on RUN
2: Type in devmgmt.msc
3: Click Enter
4. Look for any entries with Yellow Exclamation ! marks or Red X's

In your next reply please include those results

Check speaker connection to back of system
Check volume control in windows by doing the following:
Go to Start and The Run
Type in sndvol32.exe and press Enter
Make sure Master Volume is not muted and turned up
Check Cd Player volume is not muted and turned up

Download and install EVEREST Free Home Edition
Open it.
1: In left pane expand Computer folder.
2: Click once on Summary
3: In upper menu, go Report
4: And then to Quick Report-Summary
5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.

DO NOT INCLUDE ANYTHING UNDER THE LINE THAT SAYS "DEBUG- PCI"

ok so i found a red x under Realtek AC'97 Audio. And when i tried searching for the master volume & etc .. a message showed up as : Volume Control: There are no active mixers devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click printers and other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware. This program will now close.

& then after i downloaded the everest thing, report showed up as:

Go to the Intel Download Page and download the Audio Driver named Audio: AC97 ADI
Let me know if this resolves your issue.

After i download the file & unzip it what else am i supposed to do ?
i went back into my computer-properties-hardware-device manager and i still see the red x at the realtek ac'97. I tried enabling it again & my pc went blank then restarted.

Then showed me this blue screen with this message on it : (refer to the attachment photo)

Ok not sure what zip file you are talking about as what i get is a EXE file
Once you get that then you run the program and it should install the driver.
As for the error message you are getting try this.

Download WhoCrashed from the link in my signature below
This program checks for any drivers which may have been causing your computer to crash....

Click on the file you just downloaded and run it.
Put a tick in Accept then click on Next
Put a tick in the Don't create a start menu folder then click Next
Put a tick in Create a Desktop Icon then click on Install and make sure there is a tick in Launch Whocrashed before clicking Finish
Click Analyze
It will want to download the Debugger and install it Say Yes

WhoCrashed will create report but you have to scroll down to see it
Copy and paste it into your next reply

All your WhoCrashed entries are for the soundcard driver.

Ket's check and make sure it is enable in the bios.
Restart the system and enter the BIOS
normally by tapping the DEL key on the first post screen where it counts your memory.
Now find the onboard or integrated section and make sure the onboard sound is enable.

Second of all I don't understand why Winzip is trying to unzip a EXE file.
Go HERE
to the direct file and download it. As you can see it is a EXE file so Winzip should not be asking to run it.
If it is then when you click on the download file make sure that you are telling it to save it to your desktop and not open it.

BSOD's always happen when you install the wrong Realtek driver.

Try the SoundMAX audio driver, its worked for me in the past. http://www.softwarep...dmax-audio.html

also its still not letting me open as a EXE file ,

when i went into the bios menu , i couldnt find any onboard or integrated section .. but when i went into the peripheral configuration part .. it said that the audio was disabled , and i enabled it. i hope i didnt do anything wrong. & there still is no sound

Nope you did right.
Now we need to retrace some steps.

Please Go to
1: STARTand the click on RUN
2: Type in devmgmt.msc
3: Click Enter
4. Look for any entries with Yellow Exclamation ! marks or Red X's
