When I am making a post sometimes it happens that the toolbar(or whatever it is) for the formatting options, adding emoticons, etc. does not appear..Is this a known issue? Am I doing something wrong?

They use javascript, so I would guess something is blocking javascript from running on your system, or it's not running properly. If you haven't updated Java lately, I'd start there.

I don't use anything that blocks javascript. I think after I restart firefox it generally gets fixed, so I suppose its something to do with clearing cache and cookies.

I'll just update java and see if it happens again. But if that uses javascript what does updating java has to do with it?

Sounds like cleaning your temp files will probably do the trick. TFC - Temp File Cleaner, or ATF - A Temp File cleaner.
