Okay, I am not a computer geek but I do have enough knowledge to know how to fix a modern computer. I recieved a free computer from about 2001 as a gift but when I hit "Enter" on Start Up Windows Normally, and in Safe Mode, the computer says Windows Xp then shows the loading bar but then takes me straight back to the home page where it asks to pick safe mode or startup windows normally etc. This is very frustrating and I think the only people that would know how to fix it would be you guys. In my last post I was told to be descriptive of my computer so it is a "CompaQ Presario 5000 Series" Don't know if that helps but I tried Xp...Thanks So Much!!

Go to Compaq Customer Support and input your model number.
From there follow the prompts to customer service.
Contact them and they should be able to get you a set of recovery disks for minimal amount.
Probably around 35 to 45 dollars.
This way you will have all the original drivers and installation software that came with the system like it was brand new.
