Iam running duel boot , so the other OS is not affected

i wish to get a audio driver for Conexant HD Smart Audio HD2

Iam not sure if the vendor has even released a driver for this device on XP

After numerous attempts at correcting the driver issue ( after 10 or so BSOD's while attempting to install driver from site )

When i " Enable " the device ,the system BSOD's

These can be at numerous intervals

I then have to go into safe mode and disable to device in order to stop reciving the BSOD's as soon as i start the OS back up

Iam woundering if anyone here has come across this or is able to get around it lol

after reading numerous forum's i am a little lost

it seems a BUS driver / device may need to be updated before the conexant driver( that i dont know much about )

If anyone is able to assist , it would be greaty appreciated

I attempted to load everest in order to generate a report , but once it scanned the Audio device it again , BSOD's

System spec's as follows

Windows XP Pro SP3
intel®Core™2 Duo CPU
1.83GHz Processor , 2GB RAM

Thank you for your time!!!

Ez2c

PS: it should also be noted that windows update has an optional update , that once again BSOD's once installed , once installed i cannot find it in add/remove to remove it

I Restored the system to befor the update installed in order to stop reciving BSOD'S when loading the desktop

PSS: i cannot locate the minidump's , however there are event logs if you want them

or i can manually type the error and any stop codes ( i have them on paper :) )

This is the first error i received

BAD_POOL_DATA

Thank you once again for your valuable time

Hi Ez2c,

The Drivers for the Conexant High Def Audio Device can be found below at the link:

Conexant High Definition Audio Device
DriverVer = 02/14/2007, 3.34.0.50
http://ftp.hp.com/pu...500/sp36090.exe (4.1MB)

To install the Conexant High Def Audio Drivers:
  • Create a Restore Point incase this does not help
  • Run the SP36909.exe package and the drivers will be extracted to C:\SWSetup\SPxxxxx
  • Right Click and select "Manage"
  • Highlight Device Manager and select the Unknown Device under Audio Devices
  • Right Click the Unknown Device and click Properties
  • Click the Driver tab at the top of the Window
  • Click Update Driver and browse to location where driver files reside (refer to Step 1) This will install/update the Device Drivers.
  • Click Next and Continue with the Wizard to update the drivers.
  • Restart the Computer.
Please check your Computer to ensure that all the Drivers for the Windows XP Installation are installed.
This can be done by going to "Control Panel -> Device Manager". Ensure there are no Red/Yellow Exclamation marks next to any of the components in the list.

I am unsure of the error messages you received; however, try updating the drivers first to overcome these problems.

Hello SalomonXM

Thank you for response

Althought... Suggestion did not work :)

I created restore point , so no harm done...

When i attempted to run sp36090.exe , all was going well , then near ( what i think) was the end of the installation

it come up with the following , both in Normal and safe mode ( i tried both , with devide enabled and disabled )

all popped up with the following displayed

ERROR ( pop-up window " name " )

Driver installation failed: could not find the MEDIA device for this driver

Iam woundering if i have crossed my wires here somwhere , if that is even the correct drivers ( i may have given wrong indication with the conexant part )

also , bare in mind... we may be chasing a dead end :)

iam not sure if drivers have come out for this laptop on XP as it come with vista and has been downgraded to xp

Thank you for your time

EDITED: just letting you know... i re-read the instuctions lol

went to point the setup wizard to the folder where the files were extracted to

now it is asking to insert the conexant High Definition Smartaudio HD2 Audio driver installation disc

I do not have the disc...
