I recently reformatted my refurbished Dell laptop and it had about 7 uninstalled drivers. I tried reformatting many times after and the same thing happened and I'm having problems finding the right driver for my sound card. It is a Intel 82801DBM ICH4-M AC'97 A-1.

Don't want to be a pain or anything but I'm a little anxious as to what my computer problem might be and the message said 3 days it's been 4 now. Thank you.

This topic started 8/22 and today is the 8/24.
I'm sorry for the two day delay but you have not responded to my previous post.
Did you install the drivers form the link I gave you in my previous post?
What were the results?

Let's start with the basic driver then.

Download Realtek AC97 driver

Also have you installed the MOBO Chipset Driver?
Sometimes this will correct this issue.

Download link in post #2
Click on the + next to Chipset
Get the first one named Intel Driver dated 1\17\2006
Also get the AC97 from my last post and install it first.
That may take care of the problem on it's own.

I tried to download the AC97 file and it gave me the bluescreen and I had to get rid of it. Can I install the chipset driver without the AC97 driver?

Go to the Dell drivers page and click the + next to Audio.
Download and install the Signatel audio driver and let me know if that works.
If not then reboot and go to Safe Mode uninstall the existing driver.
Then reboot back into Normal mode and load the driver. Do not let windows install the driver on it's own.
