Hi, recently, I have been experiencing random restarts, and also just flat out freezing for no reason. I have not installed anything to the computer recently. My monitor is somewhat "new", as I've had it only for a few weeks, but these problems only started in the recent days. After the restarts, it gives the "Windows has recovered from a serious error" message.

After doing a small Google search, I have turned off the option of having the computer restart if it crashes (note that if it is not always a crash, like I said, it just freezes and just stops) and have Windows display the bluescreen error message.

This is the one I got:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

and the line under technical information:
Stop 0x0000000A (0x00000016, 0x0000001c, 0x00000000, 0x80502eaa)

I notice that this error message is listed in the stickied thread about Windows XP Blue Screen Error messages but unfortunately I should be doing.

EDIT:

I just received a different Blue Screen Error message, this time it is a "KERNAL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR", with the technical information:

STOP: 0x00000077 (0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x0F62B000)

EDIT #2:

While running MalwareBytes AntiMalware, I once again received another BSOD message. This time, the only info I have is the technical information, which is this:

Stop: 0x0000008E (0x80000003, 0x8052B5E0, 0xB5823B48, 0x00000000)

EDIT #3:

I am now unable to get the computer to boot up properly every now and then, as I get a BSOD soon after I turn on the computer. Sometimes it boots, sometimes it doesn't. The BSOD has the error "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". The technical info is:

Stop: 0x000000D1 (0x00000400, 0x00000005, 0x00000008, 0x00000400)

Hello,
Sorry if no one got to your thread... we're all very busy.

Have you been able to start up in Safe mode? If you can, you might try doing a System restore to about a week ago... or at least before you noticed the problems starting up.

You say you just installed a monitor recently. Sometime when people do this, if too much pressure is used when attaching the video cable (at the computer side), the vid card can get slightly dislodged. There's a screw which secures the card, but even so, if the case material is a little flimsy, the screw won't stop the card from moving. A loose/dislodged vid card can cause latent problems.

Download BlueScreenView
No installation required.
Double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

Please download VEW and save it to your Desktop: http://images.malwar...om/vino/VEW.exe

Double-click VEW.exe then under Select log to query, select:
Application
System

Under Select type to list, select:
Critical (Vista only)
Error

Click the radio button for Number of events
Type 20 in the 1 to 20 box
Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.

In Notepad, click Edit > Select all then Edit > Copy
Reply to this post, click in the reply window and press Ctrl+V on your keyboard to paste the log.

Download, and install SpeedFan: http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

Have you been able to start up in Safe mode?

Usually, it goes like this in terms of if able to boot up. The first time, it'll attempt to boot but crash. Second time, it'll boot and then ask me if I want to load safe mode or just load normally. At this point, I load up safe mode, restart, then finally I am able to boot it up normally. Then after some time (not sure how long, varies) it crashes.

I'd start with...

A. If you have more than one RAM module installed, try starting computer with one RAM stick at a time.

NOTE Keep in mind, the manual check listed above is always superior to the software check, listed below. DO NOT proceed with memtest, if you can go with option A

B. If you have only one RAM stick installed...
...run memtest...

1. Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)
2. Unzip downloaded memtest86+-2.11.iso.zip file.
3. Inside, you'll find memtest86+-2.11.iso file.
4. Download, and install ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/
5. Insert blank CD into your CD drive.
6. Open ImgBurn, and click on Write image file to disc
7. Click on Browse for a file... icon:

Posted Image

8. Locate memtest86+-2.11.iso file, and click Open button.
9. Click on ImgBurn green arrow to start burning bootable memtest86 CD:

Posted Image

10. Once the CD is created, boot from it, and memtest will automatically start to run.

The running program will look something like this depending on the size and number of ram modules installed:

Posted Image

It's recommended to run 5-6 passes. Each pass contains very same 8 tests.

This will show the progress of the test. It can take a while. Be patient, or leave it running overnight.

The following image is the test results area:

The most important item here is the “errors” line. If you see ANY errors, even one, then you have bad RAM.

While opening the computer to manually remove the sticks of RAM, my dad found that the capacitors on the motherboard were enlarged and leaking. That's very likely the problem. Thank you for all the help so far.

hello, I too have been having problems with XP crashing. I have booted into the memory test CD, and my computer crashes at about test number 6. There are no error showing, but could this still indicate there is a problem with my memory? Thank you for any help. -- Jim

Although your issue may seem similar there can be other factors that may need to be resolved.
By bumping on someone's topic it makes it confusing for the tech to understand who they are helping. This can in turn cause the wrong support to be given and can cause instability or worse to happen to your system. Thank you for your cooperation.
