I have recently re-installed my XP Pro OS following a virus. When updating my pc i installed SP3 from my USB key. My question is : should i have installed SP1 or SP2 first? I did not install either 1 nor 2. My computer is running fine but i feel some of the windows graphics are not 'quite right' Any help appreciated.

You should be ok with SP3
What GPU do you have?
Have you downloaded the newest drivers?
Download and install Free Everest Home Edition
Once installed, Run the program and in the left column, expand Computer.
Look on the right for Display / Video Adapter
Then go to the manufacturer's site for suitable drivers for your Operating System.
If you are unable to find them, please post the make and model here before you download anything.
Please set a system restore point before you install anything.

Hi,
Please forgive me for taking so long getting back to you, i have had a seriously hectic time at work for the last few days.
My video adapter is Device Description
AGP 4x: nVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX400
its quite old i know, i havent tried downloading updated drivers. Should i create a restore point, downdload and install newer drivers?
Thanks again for your patience.

Yep you have the exact order in doing the new drivers.
Always setup a restore point just in case.

Hi,
I downloaded update drivers for the video card. Did'nt make any difference, so i presume my graphics are okay as they are. I was more concerned about the service packs. Is it ok to install SP3 while bypassing 1 & 2?

Yes..
If you were just starting I would say to get 3 and then 3 but since you have everything installed already you should be ok.
Have you done all the windows updates from Microsoft's site?
Make sure you get critical updates first and then do the optional ones.
That way the system is up to date.
Make sure you have a good Antivirus installed like Avast or Avira before downloading anything other then from Microsoft
After that then get a good Anti Spyware and a Malware program.
Last but not least make sure you have your firewall activated to protect from intrusion.
