All I can say is this...

We are all volunteers here. We offer help for free. We're in the position we are because we do have some experience with computers. So if someone asks me a question then I have to answer with what I know. If the person keeps asking the same question and after I tell him the answer 3-4 times, and he's still confused, I really don't know what else to do but ask him "What part of all of this can't you understand?".

It's not because you're a "novice". We deal with novices all the time on this website. It's your persistence in asking the same questions even though the answer has already been given. It might not be the answer you want to hear and perhaps this is why you keep changing your words to try to get the answer you want. Sorry, that doesn't work here. No matter how, or how many times you ask if you can install another version of windows using the license on your computer, the answer will always be the same... you can't. Period.

Look this is crazy and i know i'm going to get criticised for it but just to state the point one final time - i know you are volunteers and believe me i am only too grateful for your help , that is unquestionable . Point taken .
I have clearly made mistakes in the way i have posted on this thread -not my intention i can assure you it's through ignorance or whatever .
I hope , that as much can be accepted ?
But just so as you know - i'm trying to explain i didn't mean it to sound like i wanted to use another OS on this computer ..i only have ever wanted to reinstall my XP MS Ed which is legally licensed to this computer . You might still think i was , all i'm saying is this is a mistaken belief (my fault) that has clearly irritated you and now me besides . Apologies ,the reason i was worried (from what i've read ..probably my fault again )the emachines disc might cause problems with a replaced mobo .ok ?
I misunderstood your earlier quote about using another disc to install (my fault again ) and based on that was trying to offer alternatives that i thought i might be able to use (WRONG) in the event the emachines disc was not unusable in this rebuild.
You clearly have been and are still under the impression that i've been wishing to do something illegal that i don't and never have wanted to do , i'm just trying to explain this was & is not the case .
Ok so based on MY errors you have misunderstood - i hold my hands up to that . See i get it ...ok ..but do you ?

If anybody is interested & wants to find out how this saga ends up ..well i guess you'll have to find out elsewhere .

You clearly have been and are still under the impression that i've been wishing to do something illegal that i don't and never have wanted to do , i'm just trying to explain this was & is not the case .

Yes, you did lead me to believe this. And, my explanations to you was an attempt to make you understand that you shouldn't. There have been many posters here who have asked the same questions you asked, and normally, one explanation is all it took. Once the OP realized it was illegal, that was the end of it and we moved on. In your case, you kept on going, so yes, it became irritating.

I apologize if you feel bad about what I posted. However, you need to realize you're in a forum environment that requires you to also be able to read into things... like the usage of the words may and probably. These words are used all over forums where a definite answer cannot be given. Not once did I ever say that using your disc will cause you problems. The reason why I never used those kinds of words is because, as I stated, I don't know how emachines builds their discs so I responsibly cannot give you definite answers... and I won't, just for that reason. Now here I am explaining why people use words like may and probably! Isn't this just ridiculous???

In any case, you can think whatever you want about me. I really don't care. I feel more sorry that we couldn't have worked on this till the end, but this wasn't because I wasn't trying. If you can just stop and think about what you wrote after I first told you it's illegal, and still be upset, then that's fine with me.

Look , i don't know how else i can put this - i don't have a problem with you -if that's been interpreted then again ..that must be my fault .
Maybe if it comes across i'm getting irritated it's 'cos whatever i write seems to be irritating you -but let's agree on one thing ..i also don't care .
I too would wish to see this thread through to a (hopefully ) happy conclusion -not just for my benefit but because there's a good chance it might be of some help to others in the future who have the misfortune like me to have ever , ever purchased an emachine leading to this predicament etc etc !
If it does get fixed it'll be largely through to the help & information that you have given me , which has & is much appreciated .
Please note - there's only really one point i was unclear on early on -namely the use of which OS that could be used ....it just so happens unfortunately it was a key point which then led me to the confusion about the reinstallion disc .
Whatever the reason ...it doesn't matter !
My turn to quote myself -when i wrote this ...
"Be very careful ...very careful not too read too much on this subject of emachines/OEM discs -you will get tied up in knots by misinformation .
NOTE - I'm NOT talking about Makai here - i have obviously irritated the guy because i have brought this confusion to him for his advice and that was obviously not my intention "

please note i said "NOT talking about Makai " - i really don't think i ever inferred you'd said the disc "will" give me problems , it was always understood this was only your thought , if that's what you think then .. hey , again that's me again !All i will emphasise is that i tried to look further into my problem -off this forum - and found there are many people who have/had this same problem which left me with confusing information about how i could proceed -my mistake was in returning to you in this confused state which has only led to this sorry situation .
We could both pick out quotes we've made here & there but what's the point - i suspect we'd agree at least it'd be better to draw a line under it and move on .
As the line goes " what we have here is a failure to communicate " , which is really depressing .___
