Well, i am able to put the 40gb HD into my computer XP, or my Win98 computer, I have the drivers to allow my Win98 comp to read Usb external HDs, but the Win98 comp will still not read the HD, i currently made the HD Raw.

My XP computer can read the Raw 40gb HD an i can format it into NTFS, and i also have an option of partitioning it into 2 smaller fat32 partitions, that works, but i want one big 40gb fat32 hd, and i was unable to combing the partitions back together to form it.

If u know a way to combine two fat32 partitions into one big partition, either on XP or Win98, that will prolly solve this problem.

I am not sure if i can format HDs in a USB External Box, when i was just testing things out, i inserted my 40gb HD into my computer, by removing the 160gb one.

Today i will see what else i can do.

I think one option for me is to have the 40gb HD to be partition into a 10gb and a 30gb and then format them both into fat32, then just leave the partitions, and not try to combine them.

BTW the 40gb HD is a Western Digital, its about 2 years old, i think.

so let me know of what u can think of

Thanks

OK, I just formatted a 60gb drive in an external usb enclosure as fat32 on windows xp.

In this case, it was a maxtor hardrive so I used the maxblast software, windows version, that I downloaded from their site.

I deleted the partion in windows xp, logical disk manager, then used the maxblast software to create the partition and format it....took 30 seconds (fdisk is such a slow formatting process).

Works just fine. Copied 30gb of data to and from it, no corruption

Should note it is accessible by windows xp as formatted fat32. DO not have a windows 98 machine to test it on.

Ok, i see what u did, i found my wester digital disk, and there's a program on it called EZ.exe, i can sorta run it, it says it can format HDs and stuff like that but one big problem i have is that i am getting a 16 bit ms dos subsytems error.

And, i did replace config.nt and autoexec.nt and command.com

i also checked the web, my Command.com meets microsoft requirements.

I also just recently removed the p2pnetwork.exe virus from my computer and like everyone else i am experiencing problems, i can't see my system32 folder.

but i know the system32 folder is there, i can type C:\windows\system32 and i can see it, and everything in it. But if i go my computer -> C:\ -> windows -> ... then i can't see system32

I have my setting on show all hidden and system files and folders, but still can't see system32 folder.

So I ran spybot, found no bugs exect for 10 cookies which i think is normal, then i ran AVG and found nothing...and Adaware found only 28 cookies which i also don't think is a problem

So i have no clue what do to? Can i just put in my WindowsXP CD and click Upgrade and let it install all the windows files again?

Also here's my latest HJT log just incase.

BAD NEWS! :tazz:

I can't believe it, i spent one whole week trying to fix the following problems:
1) Malware
2) To make my 160gb to work
3) To have mt 40gb HD into Fat32

And guess what..... Number 1 is complete... i am happy, now i can deal with malware, thanks to you guys.

I am extremely dissapointed today tho, i just install, limewire, edonkey, bittorrent++, shareaza, and one game Stronghold 2 on my 160gb HD.
Can u believe it, all of them do not work.... all of them are corrupted... i am getting the feeling this FUKEN! 160gb HD just ain't gonna work for me! =\
Man... i am soo fuken angry =/ (don't wry nothing u guys can do) i have checked the net for several days trying to fix my 160gb and allow oversized HDs to work, and it just doesn't fuken worth... i feel like throwing it outta window and just buying a another 120gb.. Maxtor this time....

As for converting 40gb into fat32..well i don't mind spending some more time trying to fix that. Also needa fix my windows, system32 folder....

Should i just format?? i am gonna make a quick back up CD of all the files i need to install and back up everything on Cds or even quickly format my 40gb HD into NTFS for now and put some stuff onto there cos i can't burn DVDs, i don't have a DVD burner, and i got games that are 4gb big =/.

argh....... sry for the anger... this is so gay.... fuken windows and its gay limitations really piss me off!

:tazz: Um, hmmm, now i took my 160gb and unformatted it, and then partitioned it into 100gb and a 60gb and everythign seems to working fine.. its been about 2 hours now, and with 3 restarts on the computer..

Quick question by partitioning the hard drive, is it considered as a oversized hard drive?? If so, then the corruption problem will prolly occur later on... but if its not, then i guess the HD will work.

Thanks

Ok, i did some more research on my 160gb hard drive, and oversized hard drives... etc.

I think i got it to work, I read that oversized Western Digital HDs need Intel Application Accelerator Version 2.3. Other companies like Maxtor can use any version of IAA.

My Mobo cd has IAA version 2.2, so no wonder why it din't work all these times..., so i went and downloaded IAA version 2.3. So everything has been working for about 15 hours so far. I have restarted the computer about 5 times, no corruptions yet, and downloading stuff is going good so far.

Right now i have no malware at all, just a few detection of cookies so i know i am good atm.

I am still trying to figure out how to convert my NTFS 40gb HD into a fat32,

plz let me know

Thanks,
