Guys im not big on IP addresses but two different emails I have got have come from the same IP address, one is from a supposed best friend, one is from someone sending a nasty email, is it my best friend sending the nasty email?? Both are from hotmail accounts and the IP is called x-originating IP

Also the friend claims to be in Italy while the nasty email person claims to be in Ireland, is that even possible if the IP addresses are the same? Any advice here is welcome folks

How are you verifying that the originating IP addresses match?

Thanks for replying Johanna, well in hotmail if you rightclick on the email (before actually clicking into it to read) a drop down menu appears and if you click "view source" it tells you a lot of information including the originating IP address

The IPs can be forged OR in some cases every email sent through a provider gets tagged the same IP address.
If in doubt, just delete the nasty email and forget about it.
