try this...go to Start...Run, type in GPEDIT.MSC and press ENTER
Navigate to Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/System
Restore. In the right side window, double click System Restore and Enable
it.

you need to run sfc /scannow...
if you don't have a xp cd you will have to borrow one from a friend or coworker...
it has to be the same flavor of xp you have installed...IE: if you have xp pro...the one you borrow has to be xp pro
How to use Scannow sfc...
To do this click on start...run...then type in...sfc /scannow
NOTE..the single space between sfc and /
This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem....
AFTER RUNNING SFC /SCANNOW... CHECK WITH WINDOWS UPDATES AND GET ANY CRITICAL UPDATES

do you mean sr.inf...
I'm not sure this will work but I'm attaching a zipped folder with a copy of sr.inf...
you wil need to unzip the folder and right click on the sr.inf and select copy ...the go to the windows folder ...then the inf folder...right click on a empty space and then click on paste...
once its there ..right click on it again and then click on install...
OK the upload failed because we can't upload that type of file ...so either get a copy from someone where you are or PM me with you email address and I will email it directly to you

I understand, it contained .inf, but with zipped file, it shouldn't matter.
I'm attaching random .inf file. Let's see.
No problem here.
