Hi helcul,

Amongst other things you have a nasty nail infection and i'm not talking about your fingers and toes :tazz:

We are going to hit this with a big hammer.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://users.pandora...chy/nailfix.zip
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Please download Cleanup from here:
Cleanup. Do not run it yet.

Set up PC to show hidden files.(Click link if you do not know how)
Show hidden files

Click Start > Run > and type in:

services.msc

Click OK.

In the services window find System Startup Service.
Rightclick and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK.

Next find Service: MPICH Daemon © 2001 Argonne National Lab (mpich_mpd)
Rightclick and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK.
Exit the Services utility.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.bat. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. This may take some time, so go grab a coffee. Once it finds the first issue tick the box for all. Post the log from the scan here for me.

Then please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

Now run Cleanup

Carry out a free onlive virus scan fro the following link

Panda Activescan

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Hi helcul,

Here we go with round two. Some of these things need hitting a few times so we are still ontrack.

Reboot your PC into SAFE MODE

Rescan with HJT and check the following entries:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = websearch.drsnsrch.com/q.cgi?q=
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
O2 - BHO: Band Class - {01F44A8A-8C97-4325-A378-76E68DC4AB2E} - C:\WINDOWS\systb.dll (file missing)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file)
O15 - Trusted IP range: 213.159.117.202

Ensure no windows open except HJT asnd click FIX CHECKED.

Make sure PC is set to show hidden files and using windows explorer, locate and delete the following if found:

C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Reboot PC normally, rescan with HJT and post the log back

Hi Helcul,

Still making progress even though it is slow.

Please uninstall Microsoft Antispyware, as they interferes with what we are trying to do, you can reinstall it once we have finished. I am also concerned that you do not have any antivirus software running. YOU DO HAVE ANTIVIRUS DON'T YOU?

[/b] Right-Click HERE and Save As to download DelDomains.inf to your desktop.
To use: RIGHT-CLICK DelDomains.inf on your desktop and select: Install (no need to restart)
Note: This will remove all entries in the "Trusted Zone" and "Ranges" also.

Now reboot into Safe mode again and rescan with HJT. Check the following entries

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = websearch.drsnsrch.com/q.cgi?q=
O15 - Trusted IP range: 213.159.117.202

Ensure no windows open and click FIX CHECKED.

reboot normally, rescan with HJT and post the log back, together with an answer to my question regarding antivirus software.

Unfortunately this computer didn't have virus protection software installed on it. Can you recommend a free one after we get it cleaned up?
thanks,
Helcul

Well we still have those persistant R1's....

I'm getting annoyed with them now :tazz:

We'll get you some free antivirus before we do anything else.

Please click on the link below and download a free antivirus from AVG

avg

Once you have installed it and done the first scan....

Then please download the following two programs. Install them and update them both. Then run each one and have them fix anything that they may find.

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.3

Ad-aware S E 1.5

Then rescan your PC with HJT and post ther log back
