Its about time to upgrade my PC set up and I've decided to build one. I have experiience adding and upgrading so this seems like the obvious next step. I just need a lot of help now when it comes to chosing system components, as I have no idea what will meet my requirements.
I am in need of only a basic system. I will not be gaming or anything like that. This system would simply be used for:
Web browsing
Microsoft Office
Canon photo editing
Music Backup and iPod
Hulu streaming video
Netflix streaming video
Great Planes G4.5 RealFlight R/C Flight Simulator
I am using my 32" 1080 Samsung TV as my monitor. This has proven to be a challenge for my current system. I have not been able to run my flight simulator since I upgraded to this monitor. I am also not able to run streaming video full screen without lag. So these video issues are the main reason for the upgrade.
Also, because of the HD TV I need either a DVI or HDMI output.
Great Planes G4.5 RealFlight R/C Flight Simulator Requirements: (What I see as just about the biggest challenge I foresee that the system will have to face)
Minimum Recommended System Requirements:
Some graphical features may be disabled
Aerodynamic Calculations will still be high quality
Windows XP* or Windows Vista®
Intel® Pentium® 1.0GHz or equivalent
512 MB RAM
4 GB Hard Drive Space
DVD Drive
3D Accelerated Video with:
32 MB Dedicated Video Memory
Full Windows DirectX® 9 compliant (Pixel Shader 1.4 support)
*Administrator Access Required
Optimal System Requirements:
For best graphical performance
Dual Core 2.4GHz CPU
2 GB RAM
3D Accelerated Video with:
256 MB dedicated video memory
Pixel Shader 3.0 support
Of course going a little bit beyond current needs so as to be ready for future system uses would be nice, but I can always worry about that later too.
I am on somewhat of a budget and would like to keep this an inexpensive as possible while still building a reliable, quality, and upgradeable system that will last for hopefully three to four years.
Thanks in advance for all your help with this! If you need any other information from me, just ask!
