USB Ports Not working

Hi people,

I`m new to this (I`m 65 in 3 weeks)and I can`t get my USB ports working. As a result, I can`t even logon because the keyboard and mouse won`t work. Can anybody help before I throw money at somebody to do the job for me. It might be a simple and I don`t want to be charged excessive amounts of money.
Is there anybody out there who can help me?
