Hi, I was wondering If some on can help meinstall either windows vista or 7 in x64.

I currently have windows vista 32 home premium installed but I want to install 64. The problem I have is when restart my computer and put the CD in it will not boot to enable me to do a clean install. Now I went and tryed both windows vista and windows 7 32 CDs and both ov them boot up to install but the 64 bit editions will not.

I have been in the bios and change some the setting but I am still not getting any joy.

Also I know my computer is x64 compatible as it has a core 2 duo and 4gb ram. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how did they solve it. Or just give me some idears to get this working.

If you need any more info please leave post thanks.

Many thanks
shaun brown.

I've had the problem before.
It takes a longer time to load them.
Either give it a bit and wait for them.

xD

For some reason it just likes to take up your time.
Took me 40 mins to install mine.

Although when I installed my new DVD burner I had a easier install also.

:3

hope that helps.

have you tried re-burning the disc?
And are you sure your hardware is 64x compatible?

Or it could be your DVD player is having problems?
Like is it possible to get a screen shot of it?

I know whats wrong now.
its reading your comp as a 32x system go to the bio's and select boot from CD.
Then press the button to make it boot as a bootable CD and install it that way.

I had the same problem and if your running a 32x System you can't load a 64x system that way.
It will still take time to load.

:)
Hope that helps.
-Daniel-

Edit: Also normally,
You would have to press a key to boot from a CD/DVD

My computer is already selected to boot from the cd drive if you look at the image below:

also i have burnt the dvd at speeds 3x and 8x for the windows 7 RC disk. I cannot burn the windows vista x64 as its the offical disk which im using.

hmm

maybe its how im buning it. I have use the followinf methods:

unzip via winrar then selected all the files and select the burn icon on the vista blue green bar thing.

i have also used nero 9.

Could you please recomend other software

Ultra ISO is good.
Take the ISO from the Microsoft download.
Load it into the disc and burn.

:)

Then boot it up from a CD install and watch it install.
I recommend 8x speeds and 16x speeds for the DVD those are the best install speeds.

:3

Edit: Doing the Full ISO burn makes sure you get the whole file intact as it is.
Microsoft offers the download for free.

Also try changing how your hard drive is being read HDMI or IDE ect ect and change it to read as something different and try to boot from DVD that might also help but make sure the disc is burned in a more appropriate manner.

unzip via winrar then selected all the files and select the burn icon on the vista blue green bar thing.

Why was this in .rar format? Microsoft only offers downloads as ISO images for Win 7.

Unless you can convince me this operating system is genuine, we can offer no more assistance with this installation.

Ok...I've been convinced.

While the download for the Win 7 RC is no longer available, keys are. The installation is legal. :)

Itshaunbrownuk,

Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 RC Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assitance and support.
