This is a problem that came on slowly and intermittantly, but is constant now. It's so bad it's made listening to audio on my desktop virtually impossible.

Whenever I turn on my audio, I get a loud crackling noise from all five of my speakers, like a rain of BBs on a Formica countertop. Is this a hardware problem, software?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
